Trigger for my AR?
« on: March 29, 2010, 08:53:02 AM »
So i am going to buy a new trigger for my bushmaster, I have narrowed it down to 2 choices. Both are drop in triggers.
Gonna either go with the Chip McCormick tactical match grade 3.5# trigger, or the timney 3#
Both are the same price...any thoughts?

Can't speak for the CM, but I did install a #3 Timney in my DPMS heavy-barelled AR and it works just fine.  It wasn't a total "drop-in" for my DPMS lower... minor fitting was required.  Your Bushmaster lower may not require any fitting.

There's a LOT to be done with a factory trigger group, as most of the weight comes from the (extremely) positive sear engagement. There are a few guys that will do the work on your factory parts for cheap--or jigs can be purchased to do it yourself for about the price of two trigger jobs.

I've heard nothing but praise about Bill Springfield, and I will be sending him two groups in the coming weeks.

I've only ever squeezed off a few custom triggers in an AR platform, One of them being a Timney 3. Impressive.  I have installed more than one and shot several more Timney's in sporting rifles and I've been extremely impressed with their trigger groups, sales staff and customer service.
