Rem 700 ADL trigger adj. screws....???
« on: April 05, 2010, 09:17:14 PM »
Hey all, went to set my trigger on my Rem 700 (90's model ADL long action)  yesterday and the overtravel screw has a stripped head (I can barely turn it, but not very well, and I can't tighten it to where it should be).  Anybody have any idea on where I can get replacement screws?  They're pretty dang tiny and a specialy type screw so any help would be great!  Thanks.

Try this you should be able to get any piece you want for a remington 700..  It looks like the screw is not a link so not sure if they have it but I would give them a call they are very helpful and I am sure they could get it for you.  If they can't they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks guys, yeah I was on the midway site already, didn't think they'd have something not listed but I'll give 'em a call tomorrow!  Thanks for the help...

Anybody else got any ideas?  If that doesn't work I may try a gunsmith... Thanks.

ummm thats because its not made to be messed with! remington made it so you could only adjust the spring screw! the other two are locktited in and will break/strip if played with we tried the heat up method and it still wouldnt adjust right! if you want a fully adjustable trigger drop a timney in that bad boy! if not just adjust the lbs down! we could only get it to about 2lbs maybe a hair more!

They are designed to be "messed with" but Remington will not work with a modified trigger assembly direct, they will require a new trigger assembly bought and installed.  Check out ANY long range shooting/hunting site and you'll see there are TONS of people out there setting these triggers.  Its not hard to adjust the sear engagement, then overtravel and finally trigger pull...  It's a liability for Remington to say "please feel free to modify your trigger!".

As long as its done right its easy as cake.  I just need a new screw...   :chuckle:

I checked brownels when I was putting together a order, no luck. Call a gunsmith.

Alot of folks have adjust their own triggers just fine.
I bet I've adjusted over 100 of the older style "Walker" triggers and more then a few of the X-pro's
