Washougal Sturgeon Today
« on: July 14, 2010, 09:35:23 PM »
Brother in Law was in Portland so took the day off and headed down to take him and another Fighter Pilot our for some Sturgeon, not too bad of a day hit about 20 to the boat some close to Keepers size and towards the end of the day got into some OS action....  Two out of water leaps and three massive run, had him next to the boat and he simply spit out the bait (shad).  The 11/0 hook wasn't even in him, it got lodged in the shads head and there wasn't out enough to remain hooked, maybe a 1/4 inch is all.....  The 8 footer simply had his mouth closed the entire battle...  Too fun...

Sounds like fun! Two fighter pilots in the boat? That would be a great honor to take them out, good job!

Thought that was you going north through Olympia yesterday.

Sounds like fun.

Is the taste of the bait worth the sting of the hook twice?

Yea, we cut it way short as the recreational boaters and jet skiers were raising heck on the water, wish I could raise my tunnel and let the fire hose - fire away, like when I had an outboard.  Would have soaked a couple jet skiers that had tail gating issues.  They finally got the clue when I did a couple quick stop and turns.   :yike:
