Why?!
« on: August 11, 2010, 04:46:46 PM »
Is entiat GMU 247 not open for muzzle???, every unit around it is, is this something new this year or was it not open last year as well ( can't find last years regs ). UGH!!! my lands in that unit and all this years scouting is for nothing I guess but I guess I'm the dip*censored* who assumes if its open one year it'll be open the next, I mean the modern and archery have had it every year as far as I can remember

Can anyone shed some light on this? , am I correct with the fact that its open every year to arch/mod?

man do I feel like a fool :bash:

back to square one!

It was not open for muzzleloader season last year either. All GMU's are open for modern rifle, and yes, it is and has been open in the past for early archery season.

thanks for the info bobcat. Called the field biologist for the wenatchee WDFW and left a message with him to call me back, hopefully he can answer my questions, but thats if he calls me back.

seems kinda odd that every unit around 247 is open to muzzy, maybe it has to do with giving the animals a break between early archery and modern since its such a popular unit?

Until fairly recently, there were even fewer units open for muzzleloader deer. They just added many units a couple years ago. It doesn't seem that odd to me that a few units didn't get included, but I don't know why Entiat is one of them. I imagine it is just because with it being a very popular unit, they didn't want to upset too many people who plan on hunting it during the rifle season, by letting muzzleloader hunters in there first. That's just a guess, really I have no idea. Swakane is a popular unit too and it's open for muzzleloader, so who knows. Truth is, if it were open, the hunting wouldn't be that good anyway, and not many deer would be killed, with the early muzzleloader season being the last week of September, and the Entiat really only being good when deer migrate down from the high country.
