Nikon Monarch versus Buckmasters?

Anyone have either of these scopes in a 3x9?  Couldn't see any difference in the in the stores, maybe very little?  Just wondering what everyone's experiences have been.  Have Leupolds on most my other guns, but looking to save a few peso's.  Thanks.

I have a buckmasters on my A-Bolt 7mm and like it alot. never had any problems or complaints with it!

Thanks Lightning, anyone else a Nikon scope fan?  Always been a Leupy fan myself, but have hear good things and the Nikons are on a pretty good sale at Cabela's.

I have a few. You wont be able to tell much difference in the monarch and buckmaster in the store. Take it outside. The monarch is better glass. I like my monarch. I have a 5-20X44. It is very clear even on 20 power.  I dont think you can go wrong either way between Leupold and Nikon for quality. I will say that Leupold has the best warranty hands down. Sometimes that is worth the extra few bucks in the long run.

I have a couple buckmasters no monarchs, the buckmasters are well worth theprice.

I agree with this post. In higher powers, the difference is more obvious.
I had a 6-18X BuckMaster and it was not nearly as clear at 18X as a Monarch.
Look at the Nikon Team Primos for 3-9X

I've got the monarch 3-12x42. Looked at the buckmaster but in my research I found the extra price was worth the glass quality. I also have a pro staff that came on a rifle I took in trade. It is still impressive quality but a huge difference if your able to compare side by side on the range.

i have a buckmaster in 4.5-14x40SF and a monarch in 4-16x42SF, i bought the buckmaster and the monarch was a xmas gift i highly reccomend both of these scopes. both are really clear and sharp and as said you wont notice much difference in the store but when you take them outside, especially at low light the monarch outdoes the buckmaster as it should being nikons top of the line.

if youre on a budget the buckmaster is really impressive for the money but if you have the extra cash i would go with the monarch. havent had one problem with either scope and they are tough and hold their zeros well, both of mine have taken one or two accidental solid thumps and held perfect zeros, plus i like how i can adjust them with my fingers versus some other scopes where you need a coin or screwdriver to adjust them.

This is good news, I just ordered the 4.5-14 SF Buckmasters for my 7mm... Can't wait!!

smdave has the 4.5-14x50 on his 300 and it has been good for the money
