Bear calling stands.
« on: August 22, 2010, 09:51:07 AM »
Here is some fawn distress on one of my stands.  I took the video because I wanted to see how I sound when hand calling.  Anyone else have pictures or video of some of your bear stands?  I would really like to see how other guys set up for bear.  Tips and critiques are welcome.

Here is a stand in the timber.  I started out with elk calf, then switch to snow shoe for a few minutes, then I went to fawn distress for about an hour. The really bright area in the back ground is a really old clear cut.  It is not huntable because it is so thick but this is the area I found some of those tore up stumps and trees so I thought it would be worth a try.  I ended up throwing out Foxpros Cougar whistle (it was the only cougar sound I had on the card) at the end of this set just for grins and actually got a response but never saw anything.  My first cougar call in.  :IBCOOL:

Why do they always come in from behind you on the right side?  This is the video when Im trying to see the cougar that answered.  No luck but you can see Im sitting on the ground using that old log as a makeshift blind.

Smaller clearing I tried to call at.  Started out with Screaming Jay to get the birds all riled up.  Had a few Stellars, camp robbers, and raven circling after about 5 minutes.  Then turned on the cottontail for about an hour with some hand calling towards the end.  Nothing!  Im sure you guys are real interested in all of my fail stands but I would really like to see some of your stands successful of not.   :chuckle:
