Teton
« on: August 26, 2010, 12:28:03 PM »

Does anybody have any experience with this tent. There is quit a few websites that have them for sale. It seems like a pretty reasonable price for what they are offering. sorry if this is the wrong area to post this. J

Good tent not the quality of a $1000 wall tent but serves the purpose. Rain fly or blue tarp is a must have. The company in the link has fantastic service. I had that tent until it was stolen and decided to try their tipi tent instead of replacing. Tipi is about the same quality. The Company shipped my tent ups and I got it in a day and a half.

If you can afford to - try and get to a 4 or 5 foot wall.  It will make your tent much more usable.  But other than I can't speak to that specific tent.

Their spike tent is only a $100 more but has 4 ft walls but I dont think it has a stove port.

$100 would be worth it for 4 foot walls.  You can always cut a stove port and put a ring

One thing I like.. One thing I'm not so sure of.

No, I don't have any experience with this tent.   But I'm leary of anything that has points at the top if there's a heavy snow.  But, it's got a sewn in floor.

Thanks for the help guys. It says that it is water treated... does that mean it still will need a tarp? My price range right now is about $400-500 bucks, and I need a good tent because I drew late season deer and elk in Dec. I was looking at the Alaskan Guide tents in my price range, but I really want a wood stove. Any body have any other products they could recommend?
Thanks, J

The wood stove option puts a curve in the list of what I'd suggest, as Cabela's has the Outfitters series.  The Alaknak from Cabela's has had good reviews from people on Hunt-Wa but a tad out of your price range.

The Teton, ...  Ya know, there are a lot of tents throughout deer and elk season that are set up with a large tarp as a fly. If you're a little apprehensive about the Teton, then a 20x20 tarp for less than $50 is money well spent for a cover and some added firewood storage area as a vestibule anyway.   I would talk to the manufacture about this tents water/snow repelency and whether it sweats inside.
