musket capper problem.
« on: August 29, 2010, 01:20:55 PM »
What musket capper do you use with the German musket caps?  i bought a TDC straight line musket capper at Cabela's and it doesn't work.  The caps turn sideways upside down and although the package says it should hold 12 caps it holds 24.  I'm returning it.  What do you use.  I want something like my #11 capper.

i am pretty sure the 2 i use are made by traditions. the reason it holds more is because you don't have the wings like on the cci caps.

Thanks,  Do you know if Cabela's or Sportsmans Warehouse has the traditions?

Puyallup river taxidermy and muzzleloader supply river road in puyallup.  I have used both the winged, the wingless and #11'S.  I have both styles of cappers right now and prefer brass as the plastics tend to bind on both.  I actually prefer the winged for the ease of removing the fired cap.  Both the winged and the wingless have a tendency to fall off.  I gently roll them in my fingers to crimp them tighter.  The wingless also load into the capper easier if you roll them before putting them into the capper. :twocents:
