I head out on a whim tonight to where I have been chasing that boar with my bow.
I hop up so I can see over the brush, on my previous perch. I am looking at a nice tree line, about 50 yards away and brush, black berries.
I was in a hurry when I left the house, my bow was packed away, so I grabbed my .30 30 winchester lever action, open sites. I didnt hear or see any bears when I came in. I snuck in quietly and got to calling.
I decided to give my special order RRCall a try (the one with bear claws on it)...I call lightly at first and then sound more hurt, lonely...no more than 5 minutes I see a stump move...
stumps dont move...Chocolate bear, 45 yards! I call a bit more, the bear stands and checks me out...then comes in for a closer look. When he drops to all fours I put the camera away quickly and bring up the brush gun.
Bear stops within 35 yards...stands up again. I aim for the chest...BooM~! .30 30 lets loose... The bear drops, bites and spins in a pissed off frenzy. I shuck another into the chamber....the bear starts to make his way to the tree line...click....

a dud! I slam anothing into the chamber...boom...a quarterin away side shot...slam another into the chamber...hit the bear in the back, brake it, the bear is down...but now continues to crawl, only using his front pads. Another in the chamber...click...AHH! I must have ejected two shells during the frenzy, as I loaded 5, only shot four... The bear makes it to the woods, crashes around slowly. I wait 30 minutes, find lots of blood....good trail...but I am out of ammo in my rifle, alone, dark is fast comin, and to top it off, my head lamp is dead.
Now all I have is my .45 auto and im searching for the bear....however, I get a bad feeling after looking for about 20 yards into the dark woods...I back out, mark the spots...
To be continued guys and gals. Need ammo, lights and a few extra bodies. I am sure the bear has passed, or will so in the night.
