HEy got a deer questain... Do blacktails scrape? Ive seen scrapes on the westside in an area were there arent many elk if any, i ask because in field and stream a few monthes back it said they didn't scrape at all. I dont think that is correct.

You maybe getting two terms mixed up.
Scrape
is digging or pawing an open dirt area and peeing in it, along with a lick branch overhead. A
rub
is when they tear the bark off the tree with their antlers. Blacktails and muleys don't scrape like whitetails, they create licks, not nearly the frequency that whitetails make scrapes.

You beat me to it boneaddict. Blacktails do
rub
trees, but do not make
scrapes
like whitetails. Here is an example of the two together, made by a whitetail.

We call those hookings or buck rubs. And yes, blacktails do make scrapes once in a while. I have seen a couple and they were all near trails with buck rubs.

Yep. Last fall a little 3 pt blackie tore up a crabapple tree that I had planted in my yard for my Dad. Not only did he rub all the bark off and kill it but he also tore up the ground around and pissed in it. I was as pissed as the ground!
My wife wanted me to hang my tag on him but I refuse to shoot pets, unless they are steers.

I have seen a blacktail in the proccess of a scrape, at the time I couldn't figure what the heck the little bugger was doing as I'm not a whitetail hunter. It was a while before I put 2+2 together.

I only have heffers right now but next spring I'll have a new crop. I could get one at the sale and let you "hunt" it for a few hundred bucks.

best money you will ever spend. I have only seen a blacktail scrape once. But they do piss on themselves enough though.

I seen it once up near Packwood, I was hunting a ridge during elk season and found at least 7 or 8 scrapes, no doubt it was made by a deer the tracks were all over and there were several fresh rubs to boot.
