Deer and elk in the rain
« on: October 25, 2010, 08:49:28 PM »
My dad and I went out for some photos today to see if we could find some deer since the weather has been so stormy. We found a few bucks and a herd of elk with a bull that had part of one antler broken off. Seems the rut is kicking into gear because the 2 point was dumb as all hell plus his neck is a little swollen up and he did NOT want to leave his doe. I'll post videos when I get a chance but here is a few photos of the elk and deer.

Great shots!  Good rut status too.  That second buck is a bit puffy around the collar.

Its actually the same buck. The first pic is of him hiding under that tree about 4 feet from his doe. After we hopped out of the rig he walked out from under the tree and walked out into the open. There was actually a spike about 1/8th mile up the road from from this buck but the pictures didnt turn out very good. He was all by himself so we were wondering if maybe the 2 point kicked his butt.

That Bull is mean/stud enough that even with the broken headgear he is maintaining a large herd of cows
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.
