Decent Capitol Forest Blacktail dad took a few years ago
« on: November 12, 2010, 03:19:39 PM »
Going through some old hunting photos that i had stored and found a picture of my dads blacktail from Capitol Forest. I ran into one about the same size the following year a few miles from where he found his at but the only problem with the one i saw was just after the deer season ended and we were up there for elk  :bash: It was really cool because we were in a small patch of timber and all of a sudden we see 2 smaller bucks and than a few seconds later doe was running like the devil was after her but it was just a big buck and he had a crazy look in his eyes (Rut) it was kind of scary because he had that look like he was ready to kick our butts if we made a move and they were literally within spitting distance from us. The poor doe had the look on her face like please help me get away from this rut crazed horn ball  :) The smaller bucks must have known she was around because we literally bumped into 2-3 more bucks on our way back out to the truck  :o This was going to be my late season spot this year had i not filled my special permit tag.

Thanks i will definetley tell him. He is one of those guys that just has the patience to just sit and wait for the deer to make a mistake/come to him. He just slowly works his way in the timber and just waits. Even at his older age it amazes me that he can still spot as good as he does but each year he seems to put meat in the freezer   I know who ever did his taxi job should be fired   One of these years i will have to take it in and have it remounted the way it should have been done in the first place.

Lessons can be learned from older hunters....even in the fast paced days...
Nice buck.
