We ate some fresh elk tenderloin this morning!
« on: December 02, 2010, 11:25:25 AM »
Jealous?  :)

My buddy shot his very first elk yesterday! It was a fun hunt and he made a quick/clean kill - one shot at 220 yards with minimal meat loss.

We were smiling because we hadn't started dragging her out yet!

This was actually in northern Utah yesterday, but I'm a Wa native and thought I'd share with my Wetside friends.

That is a big looking cow!...everyone in the picture looks happy...even the cow!  I think she was smiling cause she knew you still had to drag her out :chuckle:

You're right - she was happy because she knew she'd get her revenge.  We each got kicked or ran over or pushed into trees as we were sliding her down the canyon, and then we paid as we drug her the mile and a half across the flats.  As the three of us were sliding out the canyon we did have a good time though!  Thank goodness there was a lot of snow...

Nice work!  Why did you drag an elk?  Just curious because that's a heavy drag  :yike:

Why did you drag an elk?

That is a good question, but it really wasn't that bad on a foot of snow.  Never would have done it across dry ground!  But between the two of us and a good, thick rope it wasn't that bad to drag her out at all!  :)
