New to the Forum
« on: December 08, 2010, 09:00:36 AM »
Hello all, I just found this forum and signed up, I frequent others on the internet and some of you may recognize me from those other sites. I am mostly a lurker I will post if I can help others or if I have something meaningful to say. I am a bird hunter living a half hour north of Vancouver but I hunt all over the states of Oregon and Washington. I also watch the photography sections as I would love to get better at shooting birds with the camera.

Good luck out there and hunt safely.
Bryan

I see lots of folks posting "good people and good info" but noone has stepped up, unless maybe in a PM.

I do not know of any exact areas around Vancouver but if you have access to a boat, there are a lot of public shorelines (Columbia and other rivers) where you can toss out some decoys.  If you hunt down in the tidal areas, it would be a good idea to take someone experienced with the tidal issues along, at least until you are more familiar with them.  I think there are some refuges that you can get in on for blind drawings, though do not know the details.  Also, if you want to hunt geese in the area, you need to take the goose ID class and test.

Maybe check to see if there is a DU banquet in your area in the near future, you might be able to make some connections there.

Good luck.

Thank you for the info I was being sarcastic in my previous post.  I have seen many people over the years asking where good spots are and I am full aware that it take lots and lots of research to find decent spots so I felt a little rib jab was in order.

I have been hunting my area for around 5 years now I do have my goose card and harvest a few in the permit zone each year, I do have spots I like to hunt and am always on the hunt for new ones. I would basically be joining to keep on reports of weather, meet new people to hunt with and basically socialize with other that enjoy the great sport of waterfowling.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
