Thanks, I have not hunted out there, although I did have a chance last year to do some dove hunting in the area. I'm pretty sure its not in the regs that is why I asked. Its good to know should I ever make it out there. I'd hate to drive all that way for nothing.

Scott

Yeah I hear you on that.  I have done that before, showed up with a rifle and it is shotgun or archery only, that is always fun.

Guys,

My first post!  I've only been lurking a few days.  I, too, am looking for coyote opportunities around the TriCities (living in Richland). I've wandered as far north as the Seep Lakes area, and tried calling in Lower Crab Creek- so far to no avail.  Both times were before snow had fallen, so perhaps they are hungrier now.

I visited the Department of Fish and Wildlife's web pages:

http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/

and from that found a few places with Feel Free to Hunt signs about.  One place was along Blanton RD, east of Eltopia.  I heard coyotes out there, but none came to my call.  I didn't see much to attract them, except range cattle. Pretty barren ground.

I liked the suggestion about Ringold.  Having watched a few (too many) coyote hunting videos, shotguns can be quite effective out to 70 yards or so.  The obvious choices are a 12 gauge full choke with Dead Coyote loads (which are T shot, Hevi Metal). The Dead Coyote loads aren't cheap, but wouldn't be the most expensive part of your trip (gas being significant, though cheaper than before).

I am giving thought to hunting around Hover/Finley, but haven't picked out any land to try.

I am a fan of Randy Anderson's videos, calls, and methods.  Anyone from around TriCities (very liberally) wanting a hunting partner, give me a call. Did I mention I have yet to call and bag a coyote?  I am hungry! I have gear, sticks, calls, etc.

South of Kennewick (Finley area) there are some FFTH land along the river as well as Easter Day Farms which is sign in sign out. I have seen lots of yote sign there. Even a couple freshly dig holes with wet crap piles near by. The FFTH area is wide open for glassing once you're atop the cliffs. My wife and I like to hike this areas as it had great views of Wallula Gap from the top of the cliffs.

gobble gobble,

That is some good area you are talking about.  There is a ton of coyotes out that way.  My favorite spot to go got burned up a year or two ago and I am waiting for it to grow back.

I know the area. It has grown back quite well if you ask me. Sure there aren't as many sage bushes around but the grasses are growing back like wild fire (pun intended).
God Bless,
Scott

Dont know how old this topic is but I grew up in Prosser, just west of the Tri CIties..

get up on Horse Heaven Hills and talk to the farmers. I have shot 100's of yotes up there. get in the sagebrush hills and such leading down to the orchards.  Also out side of Prosser is some state land heading up to Rattle Snakes hills...  lots of land out there........ and lots of Elk............ha ha
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

The Whiners suck!!
