Wife bagged her first bird
« on: April 17, 2011, 05:20:44 PM »
Well my wife got it done on the second day of season.  She was a trooper and weathered the storm on opening day.  We spent most of the day in rain gear but she didn't complain once (only heard one gobble and saw 9 birds total).  The second day started off a lot better with clear skies but now we had wind to deal with.  We setup where we heard the gobble from the day before but nothing, moved on and got a response within a couple hundred yards.  He was close enough we setup where we were.  Called for about 10 minutes and he would respond but wasn't budging.  We decided to move closer and reset.  He hammered every call and within 3-4 minutes he was in our lap.  She made a great shot at 30 yards and the rest is history.  I was more excited than if I would have pulled the trigger.

This is her first hunting trip ever and she did great.  I could tell she was excited and I hope she continues to join me (us) on our hunting trips.  I would like to thank Tyson (Prime Time) for getting the entire hunt on film.  Tyson and I spent the rest of the weekend trying to kill a cagey ol' gobbler but we came out on the losing end.
