Monster Bucks XIX Volume 2 Washington Whitetail Hunt

Just watched Monster Bucks XIX Volume 2. There was a good Washington whitetail hunt. David Blanton killed a nice 150 inch early season whitetail that was in route to an Alfalfa field.

that is why u cant hunt mule deer ANYWHERE in this state with a rifle during the rut and most western states without a permit..cause they are DUMB,susceptible and overhunted easily... I enjoy hunting animals that live in the same area their whole life..its a game to me..not a animal that just wanders and just get lucky to pull the trigger on a buck u never scouted or seen in your life...one part of mule deer hunting I dislike. Oh wait..I forgot..some hardcore mule deer guy will say" the mature bucks are the hardest to get"  BS  My wall would be full of trophy class mule deer if I were able to chase them in november...Couldnt begin to count how many huge muleys I have seen over the years during the rut.

I don't believe he was talking about hunting during the rut.  I will agree that mulie bucks in full rut are the dumbest deer on the planet.  I have literally hit a 180 class buck with a rock because he would not leave his girlfriend.  If we are talking about any time other than the rut, I still stick with whities being the easiest to pattern.

   During the rut, I agree, mulies are dumb.  But the rest of the year, not so much.  Very hard to pattern.  I cannot say whether whitetails are easy or not, as I have never hunted them, they don't intrest me in the least.

Try to find a 150 class BT in WA would be the hardest part.... No matter how much you scouted..... And for the WT nut... Have you ever seen them during the rut?? Not the smartest deer in woods would you say.... But what do you think is gonna happen when you only get it once a year for a maybe a few weeks... I'd die trying as well.....

 Just because you can pattern them and bait them doesn't mean they are the easiest to kill. If you pattern a buck that rarely moves during the day your odds of success are very low. A 3.5+ year old (yes not even fully mature) whitetail buck in high pressure areas is probably one of the most difficult of all deer to hunt (even when you know he is there).. probably on par with blacktail and I dare say.. possibly harder.... most people who have only hunted deer in the West/Midwest can't comprehend  this because they likely have never hunted a truly pressured deer species of any kind in their life. What we consider high pressure here is nothing compared to what people experience hunting back east/south.

 Whitetail adapt better than any other deer species. You turn up the pressure too much and they will practically disappear during legal shooting hours. No other deer species can handle the seasons/pressure that North America's whitetail herds experience.

All the deer species are difficult in their own way.

A good friend of mine is a blacktail fanatic (OR). Year after year he consistently kills big bucks. He tells me scouting is key and says the biggest reason most people aren't successful is because they don't take their scouting seriously.  From what he tells me patterning blacktail is as effective as patterning early season whitetail. He finds nice bucks every year that do that same things 4-5 days out of the week. He has only killed a few bucks that he never saw prior to the day his arrow hit home.

In areas with agriculture I know for a fact that mule deer can be patterned early and late in the season because I see the same mule deer bucks doing the same thing day after day. I am sure it is more difficult to pattern them in the high country but I can't speak from experience there because I am not a mule deer hunter.

Personally for me I like the pattern aspect of whitetail hunting. I prefer killing a buck I know of rather than having a random encounter with a buck I have never seen by trailcamera, glassing or otherwise. (i.e. a whole lot of luck). Most (not all) of the  mule deer hunters I meet admit they never even knew their buck existed before the day they killed it...That being said if I have 150+ whitetail that I have never seen show up I won't be disappointed.
