All bows are created equally, then a few become HOYTS!

Martin Archery

But have shot PSE, Bowtec, Alpine, Golden Eagle, Browning. I am on my third Martin simply because of the customer service I received about 20 years ago. In or around the late 80's, I had an accident involving a Honda 90 and a black bear that resulted in a broken thumb and a broken laminated riser on a Martin Warthog. I took the bow to Martin Archery in Walla Walla and while I waited they installed a new riser, cables and string at no charge. Back hunting the next day.

ide tend to believe a hoyt would shoot "strait-er" then a mathews "brokeback". or was it switchback i cant remember.....

quote: "Look at the Hoyt guy trying to make himself feel better...throw that thing away or just give it to someone you don't like much.

Then go buy a Mathews.

Actually, I think Hoyt, Mathews Bowtech, PSE and some others are all good bows.  But it's more fun to flip s#$t."

if you meant me, i wasn't trying to make myself feel better, i'm sure i'd shoot well with a mathews, i just don't know why i'd want to spend more money on a bow that doesn't shoot as nice as mine?  :yike:

i can shoot great with my grandpas hoyt from 1992, which is fun to shoot to pass time, but i'd rather shoot my newer hoyt on a regular basis.

Not to tangent, but something that makes you realise how far the new bows have come, is if you have a chance get an early nineties bow and pretty much any newer bow and shoot them alternating between sets of shots and notice the differences, it really is crazy how far technology has come.

however i'm sure an early nineties Hoyt would shoot better than a new mathews lol just saying  :chuckle:

Look at Stormin85's setup.  He has a "homemade release".  That's because any factory made release just opens it's jaws and spits out the Hoyt.  Refuses to work.  Can't say as I blame it.  Now he has to cobble together some kind of Frankenrelease...

true true, i have a homemade release, its actually pretty slick, first thing i fab'd up for bowhunting myself, using about four different releases.

i like the name, frankenrelease, maybe i can use it for my company? i will make a nice custom release for you, you can even be on my pro staff?!?

we only shoot hoyt's though? i hope that isn't a problem? you know, you shooting a better bow? lol :chuckle:

When I returned to Bow hunting after 25+ years  I got my first Elk with a Parker Magnum my brother handed down to me. (1/2 inch short on the draw)

Tried out the Mathews and liked the one with the shorter brace height... but the look and feel of the Element was hard to beat!  Still debating whether or not I need a stabilizer on it.

I only have one issue with Hoyts and that's the short valley at the end of the draw....

Old enough to know better.
Young enough to go for it.

I shoot a Hoyt because I'm a serious hunter.
(and because somebody on here last year was looking to trade his Hoyt for a hunting rifle and I had a hunting rifle to unload. He accepted my trade offer so I am hunting with a Hoyt)

Yes, pink cricket for a new Alphamax 32.
 :dunno:
The cool thing is that I take it in my driftboat and I don't need an anchor and a bow. The bow has 2 jobs.

after trying mathews and bowtech I went with the bowtech. the guy at the shop selling bowtechs was super helpful, friendly and put up with all of my stupid newbie questions. he also talked me out of a lot of really expensive accessories that I really couldn't afford/appreciates since I was new to compound bows.

now the guy at the mathews shop spoke with a lisp, wore a pink shirt knotted above his navel, and said that you had to shoot a mathews bow with a limp wrist or it just would not tune properly. I really didn't care for the way he gave me shooting instructions either....
