Bow Mount For Bike
« on: August 19, 2011, 12:07:15 PM »
Was wondering if any of ya'll have ideas/suggestions for setting up a bow to a mountain bike. will be using bike for the first time. Wondering what has/has not worked for other's who have tried this before.
Or should I just figure out a way to strap it to my pack.

Me and my hunting partner have been wondering the same thing. I take my rifle for bear and he takes his bow for deer. They both hurt our backs while riding. Good question.

There are some threads on hunting from mountain bikes.  Here is one with some pictures and links.

I use just a regular gun rack that mounts to the handle bars.  I put a towel in it and secure it with a bungee.  Works great

I bought a pack by Eberlestock (sp?) the "slingshot" I think it is and it works pretty well for biking with the bow.  It has a padded section on top that keeps the bow from banging on your back and is removable if you just want to use the pack as a day pack.  It works better with smaller bows though.

I have used a gun mount for the bike before and works just fine with a bow. I would highly recommend using one.

I got this rack at pro caliber in vanc ,you can get them at most qwad or Mx shops.I wrap a strip of rubber around the bars then tighten them down,it does not make noise and wont knock your sights off. Works for rifle or bow.
