Winston on Weekday?
« on: November 27, 2011, 09:26:48 AM »
How crowded is 520 on a weekday? Thinking of heading down there sometime this week but just want to get people's impression of how much of a circus it can be compared to a weekend. Thanks.

If you are going 2-4 miles in behind the locked gates, it can be a nice quiet place...  you will have the whole place to yourself until you hear trucks coming in from another gate that Weyerhauser decided to leave open......    :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

If Thursday (Thanksgiving) is any indication, it won't be bad. The crowd, from what I saw, was alot lighter then last year on Thanksgiving, pleasantly suprised. :twocents:

My buddy said that there weren't many people out on thanksgiving.  But come saturday and today it was crazy with people.

You won't be alone. Buddies were there the first 4 days. Not much moving.  They went to another cow unit and both got their elk. The elk are there, but not much out and about.

I live in Toutle and there was less hunters then normal this weekend, but there was still some big A-holes out there, I almost got into it with a guy opening day, he was riding my a@# then  tried to pass me in the ditch when we stoped to look at a elk, I got out and yelled at him for being a A@# I have never seen anyone so rude before.

This might sound bad.  But if he was ridding your truck for miles why wouldn't you pull over and let him blow by?   I was down there with a friend of mine during muzzle loader hunting and some dude just kept driving at 5 miles per hour never turning off so that we could go around.  He did that for miles...

I am not saying you did this but that was really annoying...

I was going 15-20 mph way faster then I would of gone if no one was behind me. and when I say riding my A@# ten feet from my bumper, and was not for miles never said that, I was not to far from the grade I was going to turn down, he as well turned down the same grade, when I stoped to look at a elk he was so close to me that he had to back up or I would of hit him, thats when he tried to pass in the ditch on a one lane road.

Had the same thing happen a few years back. We where heading up the road,it was snowing and blowing pretty hard. Already had about 6 inches on the ground and this toyota pulls up behind us going about 20 mph. He gets right on our tail and stays there for about a mile. I had enough and pulled over. He gets going again for about a quarter of a mile and then all we see is lights flipping. He rolled his truck 4 times and they where stuck in the cab in the middle of the road. We got them out and they where shakin' up but ok. We got their rig turned over and to the side of the road. We gave them a ride down to the gas station and got them something warm to drink while they waited for the tow truck.
