Question for all you more experienced hunters.  Why would picking up the skull and taking it home have been illegal?  I've always read the regs to say that it is legal to pick up antlers that have been naturally shed.  In this case it just appears to me that the deer shed the skull with the antlers.  That isn't necessarly what is meant in the regs but I don't recall it being expressly banned either.  Granted I could see it being illegal if you come across an obviously shot deer or road kill but a totally clean skull with no carcase?  Just never heard that would be illegal.  Can anybody point me to the WAC or RCW or Game regs where it says you have to leave a skull lay where you find it.  What about other bones?  I found a coyot chewed deer scapula this season and looked around for the rest and found nothing.  If I had found it could I have been ticketed for picking a piece of clean bone up and carrying it out?  Sorry if this is a highjack.

It was a nice looking 2 point.  Good mass.
Such is life in the West and the further West the more the such.

That's just how this state is.  I believe you have to leave the skulls because it prevents people from poaching animals and then coming back a year later to take the head and saying "they found it". I found a big 2 point muley a few years ago that I think someone shot thinking it had to be at least a 3-point  :bash: :bash: I don't know about keeping bones though.

Thats a good question. Would it be illegal if I picked up two femurs to make a Jolly Roger? (skull-n-cross bones)
