super black eagle problem
« on: January 15, 2012, 11:10:31 AM »
So while out hunting we got checked by the game wardens. When checking my dads gun he somehow fit 3 shells in the bottom of the gun  :yike: This gun has a plug and has been checked before. So we have tried it over and over again and can't fit a 3rd shell in the bottom, like it should be. So how the Hell did he do it????

What size shells were you using? Some times you can fit 2 3 1/2 but 3 2 3/4? Maybe he was using the shorties? :dunno: did he fine ya?

Just a thought,

the plug might need to be just a little bit longer. Sometimes if it is too short there is enough room for it to be at the right angle to except three shells...

Is it the H&K Super Black Eagle? The older ones before Benelli took over completely were able to house three in the bottom and one in the tube.  I know because I own one.

It was a manufacturing error and was corrected.  Those SBE's are more sought after for obvious reasons...so I would fight that ticket if your Dad only had three shells in.

The way you do it is put your two in the magazine then pull your bolt back, not all the way then drop one in below and you will hear a click.  Then let your bolt go forward a little then put one in the tube and shut it.  You know have four in there ;)

It has nothing to do with the plug, etc...

Well then you got me.  I have a newer one and it won't work like my older one. Did you ask him to see how he was doing that?  That would've solved the question.

He tried it again and wouldnt work the second time. That's why we didnt get a ticket. but we watched him put 3 shells in the bottom the first time.  That game warden must be a magician!

With the older ones you can place a floater shell in there.  You could load your one in the chamber and two in the magazine.  Then click it and pull back the action.  It would kick out the shell in the action leaving the two in the magazine.  You could then drop a shell into the gun and drop one into the chamber leaving 4 shells in the gun.  Some guys would do it very regularly in the field.  The games would listen for the number of shots fired in many cases.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Weird that sounds funky, atleast he could not get it back in again. I would have been mad as a wasp if I had got a ticket for that.
