Yeah, I remember it, it was also in the Great Falls Tribune.  Believe it was taken on the Sun river game range or somewhere thereabouts.  Was a pretty good 5 point bull if i recall.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

The guy that took the picture was at the Big Horn Show a couple years back.  He was selling prints and I believe he had a series of three pictures as the antlers were falling off.  You're not crazy.

Those prints are usually for sale somewhere at every sportsman show every year....  Usually like said above, in a 3 print set.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

I have a set of signed prints on my wall. My wife found the set at a garage sale. We met the photographer a few years back at the Puyallup Fair. He is an amazing guy and he got very lucky on that one.

It is a picture of a Tule Elk bull in Northern Cal.

Are you talking about the series that Gary Lamare took?  I believe thats how you spell his last name, he lived in Castlerock Washington but think he moved to Montana.  I used to know his daughter, and I would go up and buy reference photos from him for art projects.  If its the same photos I'm thinking, the bull is standing there with both antlers, then shakes, and then standing there bald above both sheds.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

And I'm 90% sure the Elk was photographed in the St. Helens monument.  I'll have to see if he is still around, this last summer he had a huge sale at his house and was basically giving away thousands of prints, he said he was getting rid of stuff and moving to Montana.  I know he was asking a lot for the home so not sure it its sold yet.

It does look like a Tule bull.  I am sure I saw them in the Great Falls tribune, not sure why I remembered them being taken at Sun River? :dunno:

if you look carefully, in picture one the bull on the left is the one that loses the antlers, looks like elk on the right (in the first picture) walked to the other side of the other bull before he shook off the antlers
