Mock stalk on this bear
« on: April 30, 2012, 08:45:25 PM »
While turkey hunting this weekend I put a mock stalk on this nice chocolate phase bear. I got to within 25 yrds before my partner started squeeking with his mouth. My shotgun was 50 yrds back with him. :bdid: We saw pile after pile of scat and the tracks of a monster. I layed a 3" shell in the pad of the print in the picture below. (different bear than in the picture)  He's got to be close to a 7 foot bear. My partner saw him the last two years and said he's the biggest bear he's seen.

Looks like two different bears to me??? The top pic looks like a big male, the second pic looks like a small bear by the looks of it's ears being close together.  Either way, sweet pic's and thanks for posting.

Nope, it's the same bear. Just goes to show you that it's important to judge a bear like you would any other animal - from all sides before you decide.

I didn't say that the bear in the picture was 7 foot. He's lucky to push 5 foot if I stretched his a little. :) The bear that made the tracks we had seen was possibly a 7 footer. I see 10+ bears a year come thru my shop. I'm not that stupid.  Reread the post!

No worries Machias. I can see where my post could be confusing. You weren't the only one that took it that way. I'm sorry for the confusion.

I wish we were having some nicer weather on the wet side of the state.  It was so nasty out tonight, that I didn't even want to go out.  No fun when your windows are fogging and you drive two miles up an elevated hill and your visibility goes to about 25 feet.

Hey Victor, You know something crazy is going to happen because IT ALWAYS DOES!!!!! Tanner was just here doing some finish work on his "Senior Project Deer" and we were talking about your guys trip. Good luck and be safe.

Sorry that bear was down south toward Goldendale. You guys don't need any help anyways. You're going and you are the luckiest s.o.b. I know :chuckle:
