I remember that buck!  He was all over town a few years back.  One year I watched a couple of "hunters" bail out of their rigs at the Chevron where 21 and 20 collide!  It was opening week and a BIG 4 point walked by the gas pumps and headed down towards the fire station.  Someone actually had to yell at them to put their guns away and stop before the cops were called.   :chuckle:  Damn city boys!

I got the 4-point pic on the dirt road that goes up the hill right next to the funeral home.  We saw him in that area several times.

Speaking of Republic courthouse deer...

I saw this one lying in the edge of somebodies yard in the middle of town a few years back on opening day of deer season.  He knew he was safe.

I think he is one of the ones that got transported down to the rez.

Was he and his buddies also transferred to Chelan to be sold to the "migrant orchard workers" for $50 per pop or just taken to Keller to hang around in someone's front yard for a few days?

During Nov, the bucks and doe's get pretty feisty there in town.  I saw a muley doe chasing a dog around trying stomp the crap out of him.  They had to reduce the deer numbers before somebody got hurt.  It was kind of cool to cruise town looking at all the bucks though.

We have been hunting and owning property near Republic for over 10 years.  I have never had issues with the locals.  It seems to me that if you engage the local community they are actually nice and look out for your place.  If a local wants to hunt on my land, I say let them as long as they keep everyone else out!  BTW, take a look at Vulcan Mtn.  this is a very busy place but at least safe from the federalist folk in the hills.

A lot depends on location.  If you have land that borders Natl Forrest or a Forrest Service road, then you are going to have more problems with tresspassers.

Yes but lots of land to hunt once you get past the private stuff.  Good point though.
