My first buck. 11x12
« on: December 07, 2008, 05:34:23 PM »
This is my first buck, I shot it 32 years ago, witha 308. Nice's one I've ever gotten. Some day I'll have a head mount done. I shot him on opening day of the 1976 deer season. He field dressed at 200 lbs, and scored 155 nontropical. I've seen bigger, and come close to this one, but with a bow in my hands.....will you know. :'(

A true once in a life time buck... ;)
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

VERY, VERY nice! You're right, that is one HANDSOME lookin' rack and would look awesome on a head mount!

It only scored 155, ay? Sure looks from the pics that it would score better than that. (With that being said, the score is irrelevant....the rack is awesome regardless)

I took it to the Big Horn show in Spokane and that's the nontypical score they gave it. :dunno:

No worries, my friend. Honestly, I am not that good at eyeballing a score and again, it's a beautiful rack either way. I was just curious.

I've opened your thread three times already just to get another look at it.

VERY, VERY nice! Thanks for posting it up for us.

I was young and didn't really know how nice he was. My uncle kicked him out of a draw, I took a running shot and missed, he stopped and looked at me, and that was it. My uncle told me to drag him off the ridge to him, I said I can't, he said why all pissed off, I said he's toooo big. He came up the ridge cussing all the way saying it better be nice. He got there and said holy *censored* that's big. :chuckle: He said I'll never shot a buck that nice again ;)

by the looks of those brow tines his dad might have been a mountain caribou :yike: :chuckle:
