Need a new trigger
« on: November 17, 2014, 09:26:58 PM »
I have a Winchester Model 70 in 300 win mag that I like. It's comfortable for me to hold and it's accurate & reliable.  I bought it new in about 2002. The thing I hate about it is the trigger, it's just nasty. It's like pulling on the bumper of my truck for what seems an eternity, and then bang. I would like to put a new trigger in it and am thinking of Timney.  Are they as good a trigger as I hear?

I put one on my Remington 700 and it was about a 10 minute job.  It fit perfectly and had the same safety.  I did have to mill out the trigger guard slightly (aftermarket) as the trigger itself was wider than factory.  The pull is perfect, about 4.5# and extremely crisp.

Especially for the money, I can't see what else I would want in a trigger.

have used Timneys on several firearms of different makes, never been disappointed. tell them what pull you want when ordering and it will come adjusted really damn close if not spot on.
have one on my Model 70 too.
