My Turn - Props to FW Speedy Auto Glass
« on: April 08, 2015, 10:19:10 PM »
After reading of all the vehicle break in stories on here, I woke up to find that my truck rear slider was broken.  Nothing missing that I could tell.  So the vermin were either interrupted or it was just malicious vandalism.  After fixing the window, I removed all the valuables and personal info and set up another camera to see if I can catch return visitors.

Anyhow, major props to Federal Way Speedy Auto Glass (Manager: Jeffrey Meschke).  After counselling me that he does not like using aftermarket sliders (poor fit, leakage, no guarantees, etc.) and new OEM parts were not available (late model ford), he referred me to another outfit who deals in used auto OEM glass parts and who could do the work, pending parts availability.

Then I bugged him about three more times (Could he do it if I found craiglist glass? How do I remove the rear window and the broken panel and replace the broken panel? Etc.).  Long story short, I found what I needed for $25 and half a day's driving and work (according to the instructions given), and I have a repaired window.

When I returned to Speedy Auto Glass and offered a case of beer or Jimmy John's for the crew, he declined and asked that I return when needing glass. (I have already had one windshield and one residential pane replaced there.)  I will certainly return.

If you need glass, I cannot say enough about their level of customer service.

Somebody's getting Top Pot donuts tomorrow.
