There will soon be less DNR land in the area. DNR is in the process of transferring their Preston area lands to King County. Once this is done it will be county land (park) and off limits to hunting.

When DNR gifted the Vashon Island forestry acreage to King Co, the county made it a park but continued to have a shortened hunting season on that land.  Perhaps the same will happen the Preston area lands.

I just left Sammamish for east Lewis county. If you drive down dither hill road towards the valley you have areas that are still unincorporated king county. If you can contact one of those land owners you might score. As to private property hunting being not allowed. I believe this has more to do with the affluent neighborhoods and less with the common folk (myself).  We had smash and grabs going on in our neighborhood 216th & Inglewood. The police had to be repeatedly bothered to come take a report. But when the same thing went on closer to the golf course up there they got a very fast response time.  That's one of the main reasons we sold and left. That and all the crazy clear cutting.
