Missing the opener like always and might be my last year before I retire from hunting.  Hunting buddy is going to be a Dad towards the end of the season and is looking for a career change so I will have no one to hunt with and hunting alone is boring and expensive.

looking like its going to be down right nasty. I'll be with you trying to hang in there for an overnight... we will see how it goes. Luckily the temps don't look like they are going to be that low. No matter what, it'll be an opening day to remember.

We scouted Skagit Bay last Sunday to see if there were any new surprise stumps or if the dike taketown on Fir Island effected any of the sloughs.  I even wore fishing waders because it was so hot and sunny!  Now it's looking too dangerous to go out there on Saturday. Plans A, B, and C are unhuntable.... on to plan D!

I'm bummed I returned my 2-pack of Mojo wind spinners last year.  I bet I could actually get all four wings spinning this weekend for once.

It seems like it is at that point where it might be too windy for the ducks to even fly! Will definitely be tucked away.

High tide in the Skagit area will be at 5:00 am and low at 11:00.  Hopefully no one ends up flipped or sunk.  Every year someone has to be rescued out in the bay.

Your not really hunting unless you go for a swim!
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

NOAA is calling for 4-6 footers in they bays, anyone that heads out there in anything remotely resembling a duck boat should have their family talking them out of it now.

I just got an emergency text that there is a 2/3 chance the storm will pass north of us (northern Vancouver Island) in which case we will get a "normal" bad winter storm.  There is a 1/3 chance it will pass over Puget Sound which would be the storm of a lifetime.

Hopefully the models will provide more information by Friday.
