Newbie question re: camo for turkey hunt

All: I've poked around a bit on this site but not finding the answer. I'm a new hunter and my son and I signed up for a mentored turkey hunt coming a bit later in 2019 (date TBD). The hunt will be someone in the Spokane area.  We were notified that we'd need top/bottom camo, but that's it. The array of options is dizzying. Anyone have recommendations for brand and patterning-- and does any of that matter as long as your outline is diffused by the camo?

Use what you have because anything will work. I  used my sage brush camo RT Max-1 in GMU 117 and the turkeys never noticed me. They will bust you when you move.
Also be aware of hunters orange requirements in your GMU during rifle season for deer or elk. Good luck!

Yep. Agree with the above. I wear my Sitka marsh gear simply cause it’s comfortable. Had turkeys walk right passed me without noticing until I got up to shoot. It’s more about the movement.

Focus on fit when you look at camo. You should expect to be in the woods all day. A nice base layer will do wonders for fall hunting and need not be camo. Mine is camo so I can shed down to base layer in warm weather. I recommend an insulating mid layer for morning and evening hunting. Mid layer need not be camo but should be an earthy tone at least so you can shed your outer layer without having to pull your mid layer. I use a forest green fleece myself. If you are wanting camo then the outer layer is where I would focus. A nice thick button up or a mid weight camo jacket does well. Pick some camo pants that are comfy but not too loose. I like a fitted waist so they don't feel saggy but plenty of room in the crotch. If you are tall try and find a tall length as your pant cuffs will ride up when you sit. Get a good set of camo face coverings for the two of you and some hats. If your son is young double the mid layer and get a good warm jacket. If he is cold he won't be enjoying himself and kids tend not to tolerate the cold like us crusty adults. In the end it comes down to movement and noise. I would recommend sticking to just outer layer camo until you know you'd like to continue with it. Once you catch the bug start looking into the various brands. I'm a Realtree AGP guy myself, but there is a pattern and price for everyone.

Good luck. Don't forget that if a modern firearm deer general season is open where you hunt you will need to wear orange to be legal.

My top priority for a new hunter in later season would be warmth and comfort.  I’ve had buddies buy $5 camo sweats at Walmart that they wore over good warm/dry clothing and it worked fine. 

The best way to make a good hunt miserable is to be wet and cold.

Wear what you like and that’ll keep you comfortable. I’ve killed turkeys wearing my old bdu uniforms from the navy and I’ve killed turkeys wearing my duck camo
