Monday is the cut off for a hearing on this bill and the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural resources is not scheduled to meet Monday so it looks like it will die in Committee.

This bill uses COVID 19 as an excuse to end the production and manufacture of furs.
It would end fur ranching and trapping.

It is a House bill so voice your concerns to your State Representative, especially so, Members of the House Committee on Rural Development, Agriculture and Natural Resources. That is the Committee the bill is in.

I would encourage anyone to click on the link and read the bill. It would prohibit anyone to produce or manufacture a fur product. Easily read to include raw fur no matter how it is produced. It exempts leather manufacture. That has no relationship to fur ranches so why do they feel the need to exempt leather manufacture unless the language of the bill can be interpreted to encompass more than Fur Ranches?
On top of that I doubt it will help fur producers if their customers are put out of business.

I talked to some people and perhaps at this time it is better to just watch the bill and see what happens. If it gets scheduled for a hearing then we would want comments to Representatives.
A lot of bills get introduced that never go anyplace. I was told maybe better to not draw attention to it now.
So lets just keep an eye on it for now.

bigtex: How can you say this bill would not end trapping? It specifically states fur production. and also goes so far as to require every home to inventory and report any and all fur items that are in the home. Down to "trinkets".
Everyday this State tips further over to insanity.
I guess if this state outlawed fur trapping we could all just nuisance trap and throw all our once valued furbearers in a pit.
Would this meet your definition of trapping, bigtex?
