I have a suggestion. Let each hunter decide for himself what he is proud of.
:yeah:x1,000

And....if members belittle or post negative comments about critters of any range from a button buck to a world record or otherwise disparage or comment negatively in a success thread you are outta here.

Really? Why not use your tag on something you can be proud of?

Wow. Really?

Not in packwood.  Thinking of letting a young kid get his first bull if it’s legal He’d be super proud of it and I’d be proud of him so move along with your negativity tough guy

Atta boy. This is great. Keep us posted.

Shoot, I’d be proud of him or any other animal I harvest. I bet he is tasty too.

I’m with this guy.

For a kid, absolutely.
What I'm trying to point out is if everyone shoots every spike deer or elk they come across, that's exactly what we'll all end up with.  A little restraint could do our already hammered herds a lot of good, now and in the future.

I am trying to understand your logic in this. You advocate going for a ‘trophy’ size, which are the breeders, so you can be ‘proud’, but want the young ones left?
What?
Or maybe you mean not hunt at all?

I think what he’s advocating for is the harvest of mature animals and not immature animals, because if we kill all the little ones, the little ones will never be big ones. I don’t disagree with that at all, but I disagree more with making the kind of comment he made regarding what another person should or shouldn’t be proud of, especially not knowing the scenario. There are better ways of getting a point across.

Also that little bull is a cull if we’re really getting down to brass tacks. You don’t want those genetics in your herd if your goal is big, mature trophy type bulls.

Every one out there is trying to kill a bull with 3 or more points through archery, muzzy and rifle season . And there’s still a ton of bulls on the west side. You are not thinking your point through at all. From my observation about 1/3 of spikes are legally 3 points.
