I spray my gear every year. Problem is I take others with me that don’t.  Was in the truck a few weeks after last season with my wife and she looked on her shoulder to see the enemy crawling towards her neck and tore me a new one.  Needless to say maybe I might treat the cab this year also.   She said that was no bueno. Stock down.

If anyone in SW WA needs permethrin, I have a bottle.

Just came back from Teanaway and found them even after spraying permithin. I'm definitely retreating all of my gear before I go out again.

Just came back from turkey hunting, and sure enough, they latched on to my son.  He first found the ticks on the floor mat on the side of the truck he was sitting.  At home, he found two more ticks on his scalp at the back of his head near the base of the neck.  I've trained and advised all my kids and friends who hunt to always drop your trousers before going to bed at night and check for ticks.  Anything that has hair, they like to hide in there (in your undies, armpits, and head).  I've found them personally on a hunt over 30 years ago latching on to my skin inside my underwear.  Since then, before going to sleep after a day's hunt, I always do the body check before laying in bed.  It just became routine.

You're making me itch like crazy. I, too, have found them in my scalp and in the hairline at the base of my scull. I didn't encounter ay this past week in NE Wa. I used permethrin on all my hunting clothes prior.

Am I the only one who doesn’t get bothered by ticks? I’m not trying to be super macho (the thought of rattlesnakes makes me nearly pass out), ticks just don’t seem to bother me. Wipe em off and keep going about my day.

Ticks can be infected with bacteria, viruses, or parasites. Some of the most common tick-borne diseases in the United States include: Lyme disease, babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, anaplasmosis, Southern Tick-Associated Rash Illness, Tick-Borne Relapsing Fever, and tularemia.

They should bother you.

It was pretty humbling to say the least.. I thought my balls were going to fall off for 3 months.. Ive been pretty mentally F'd up in the Turkey woods ever since.. I take precautions, i will bathe in tick spray.   Ticks give me the heebeejeebees   ,   luckily i have had 2 children since so my tackle still worked, but im glad im still alive to tell the tale to educate..   Spray up, lube up, do what you got do.

Funny story,  i took my buddy turkey hunting with me, i told him to always wear long sleeves and always have your shirt tucked in, and dont piss in the brush, thats was my mistake..  I catch my buddy laying in the woods in the brush with his shirt untucked, i go your F'd.. he goes oh shut the eff up..  Hour later back at the truck were driving out, he pulls his shirt up and goes do i got a zit on my back, i started crying laughing, i go no but you got a tick burrowing in you.. lol..He about crashed his truck, crying like a little girl pull it out, i pulled it out he said it felt like a cougar bit him.. lol..  He now tucks his shirt in and wears long sleeves and takes every precaution.  I have flicked 19 ticks off me in one day in Kettlefalls before, Klicktat i have flicked several, there just every where in the spring..

Changing my tune after chasing wetside turkeys. Ticks suck! Had to dust off the permethrin today and switch to solid color pants.

Almost exactly 40 years ago we were looking at the stratigraphy and structure of the CRB at Oak Creek. Got home all dirty and sweaty and took a shower.

After a good lather and found a drowned tick on my nuts. Went to the ER, and the first nurse was my age (23) and hot. They switched her out for a nurse forty years older, then the doctor tweezed it out and gave me some antibiotics.

Next day I had to tell everyone in structural geology, including the professor, the story. It was all guys back then.

Now a days I’d probably be on academic behavioral probation for not keeping my condition secret.

Born and raised here in the wetside and in almost 70 years I've never seen a tick. I've heard we have them, though. All of my ticks come from the basin or Yakima Canyon. Beda Lake is my No. 1 worst tick experience.
