My best buck was a 5x4 Whitetail that was stolen from me by two other hunters after I shot it at 387 yards. Here is my best Whitetail and Mule Deer I currently have notched a tag for and have in my trophy room.

Your buck that was stolen…was it a deal where you both shot it and they took it? Or did they flat out take it from you after your killed and claimed it?

Shot it and dropped it in it's tracks. Had to make it down a canyon that was extremly verticle, mostly shale rock, and across a deep creek. When I made it up to the buck there was a man sitting on my buck with his brother standing by smoking. They had already tagged my deer. I told them I had shot that buck from across the canyon. The older brother said, "Your not taking this buck...my tag is already on it." It was right before dark, didn't want to argue or get in a fist fight over a deer. Their excuse was, "We thought someone lost it." Due to the fact he already tagged it, it becomes his "legal" property. I could have called the Game Department and Sheriff. However, I didn't want to deal with all of the hastle. I personally would never do that to anyone. It was an absolutely terrible and dejecting feeling. I hope none of you ever have to experience that.

Hope you at least got a picture of your buck before they took it

Man that sucks bad. I’ve read lots of stories like this, more so with elk than deer but none the less. Every time I read one I think “I hope every time that thief looks at that buck on the wall he’s reminded of what a spineless loser he is and the fact that he’ll never really be a hunter.”
