Any Luck With Used Dies ?
« on: September 09, 2025, 11:41:04 AM »
I am cleaning house and ran across some older dies and  a Lee hand press .
Were passed on to me so not much history.
Any body take a chance on using unknown dies ?
Many are in calibers I do not have so want to get rid of them but not sure of the liability of passing on to others.
Thought about posting on the bulletin board at my shooting range since there are a couple that aren't common.
Any body take a chance on using unknown dies ?

All my dies are used.

Non carbide straight wall pistol dies have little value.

Ditto... never had a problem purchasing used dies that I could look at first.  You shouldn't have a problem selling them if you price them right.

A few of them have some surface rust on the shell holders and remains of foam that they were packaged with.
Maybe I will run them through my vibratory cleaner and hope they will clean up a bit.

If they are RCBS dies no problem.

LIFETIME WARRENTY.

Lee dies if there is an issue toss them.

If you were close I'd be interested in the whole package.

I'm always on the lookout for cheap second hand dies even in cartridges I already have dies for. I don't want  to move my 308 die to load for my dad or my friends rifles so I end up grabbing another dirty old RCBS or hornady at a gun show for $15-25 and I clean them up and they get used for the additional rifles.

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

Yup. Much like guns, what you see is what you get. Abused dies look abused. Most are just fine.
