So how come nobody likes Martin? Serious question- I don't know much about bows but when I did hunt with a bow about 10 years ago for a couple of years I had a Martin, and thought if I ever decide to hunt with a bow again I would consider a Martin first, since they're made in this state. So what's wrong with them? Just not keeping up with new technology?

On the same topic, what are everyone's thoughts on Rytera? Does anyone have a Rytera? Or has anyone shot one? I handled an Alien X the other day and really liked the feel and draw. I think I will purchase a new bow this year and was thinking I'd go Rytera or Martin but everyone here seems to like Matthews, Hoyt, and Bowtech...

If you go with any known brand you really cant get a bad bow. Anything that feels good to you will be a great bow from almost any company. :)

You should obviously pick what draws and feels good to you but that new mathews Z7 is preety impresive?

First I want to say that there are a lot of  great bows out there.  I shot quite a few of them last spring while doing my own research.  I bought a Mathews Z7 and love it. Now, looking at their website and seeing 5 more Z7 models and a Z9, I'd have to say that Mathews has something in their Z7.
I really liked the Bow Tech Destroyer in both the 340 & 350. I also liked the Hoyt Maxis 31. Diamond Black Ice and Iceman were also darn nice bows. There were many more that were good but you guys need to buy what feels good to you and most importantly what you can afford. My  bank account usually is my deciding factor, LOL.

Yep, I shot the destroyer and the admiral. I don't like a bow that cams over hard and both of these did. The ones I shot were also louder than the Z7 and Z7 Xtreme.  :twocents:

While I dont doubt you, something was probably not set up right on the admiral. Bowtechs center pivot bows are the quietest in the industry.

There was just a considerable "thunk" when I shot. My z7 xtreme has no thunk to it.
