Be sure to file off the front and rear sights of your pistol when hunting in bear country.

The pistol of choice when I feel the need to carry is a Model 63 Stainless S&W. Works quite handily to take pot shots at grouse. Have always felt never under gunned when I am carrying a rifle. It's a 22 LR by the way.

Be sure to file off the front and rear sights of your pistol when hunting in bear country.
The newer revolvers are pushing lead better than a .30-30 and some are even beating the .30-06.

 This is one of the ones that I was looking at and as of right now I am leaning towards this setup.

It's part of an old joke when pistols were still really underpowered.  You file them off so it doesn't hurt as much when the bear takes it away and shoves it up you butt.

In case of a bear attack, your chances are at least 10 times better with bear spray vs ANY pistol.  But you are probably more likely to be struck by lightning that be attacked by a bear.  Either way, don't be scared.

I have no idea where your getting your info, it is not factual.
A guy just recently stopped a charging bear with a 10mm in Alaska.

Another 329PD fan here if I'm going to go light.  I usually just pack my old Glock 22 for all other trips.  Shot IPSC with it for about several years.  It has between 36 and 37k down the pipe, just about broke in.

The key is... whatever you shoot, you should shoot it until you are accurate with it.  If you miss, you may as well be throwing flowers.
