Some snows are in!
« on: September 29, 2011, 08:05:06 PM »
I watched a smaller flock of snows bouncing around in the bay this afternoon for about 20 minutes.  They are starting to show.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

A big number of snows left at migration altitude from Saskatchewan today as well.  I know these aren't our snows for the pacific flyway but the time is right for some to move down.  Given the numbers of juvi's I'm seeing up here and the high numbers of birds, it should be a decent season once it opens in Washington.

Like clockwork.  They always seem to start to show up around the 1st of Oct. every year.  By opening day there should be quite a group.  The past few years we have shot limits on opening morning of snows and ducks.

I sure like the sound of that! I guess I am still getting used to being over here..  :chuckle:

Haven't ever hunted the snows but might figure out how to go about it this year.

H2O-
Heard the first snows flying over the house (Marysville) last Friday (9/21).  They are right on time - usually see/hear the first snows each year here in the local area the week of September 20th.  Usually a reasonable numbers of birds around by the opener and new flights coming down from the north pretty frequently most of October.

With the way the birds behavior has been changing it will be interesting to see how the season shapes up.  Am hearing that there will be lots of juveniles!!!!

I was in Lake Stevens last night visiting my parents.  I saw a group of about 100 canadians flying way up high. Did anyone else happen to hear/see them around 3:00?
