Another Skagit Spring bear for me. But..this is by far my biggest yet. I shot this descent boar this morning around 11:00. I started walking up this short spur road when I heard something breakin brush next to me about 20 yards or so. I waited him out, thinking it was probably a deer, but the wind was right...so I decided to wait. I kept hearing him come closer and closer....thinking to myself....this guy is gonna come out right on top of me at 5 yards. I was also telling myself, I should have gone back into the house this morning to grab the damn pistol. So after about 30 minutes of hearing him come closer, he finally stepped out on the road, he looked at me, and I looked at him. He was a good bear and I knew this was a shooter. He started to move a little faster, so I quickly put a bullet in his lungs at 30 yards with the .300 A-bolt. It dropped him in his tracks. I was amazed to see how big his head was when I got there. Thankfully, my buddy and his dad showed up to help me load him up. Hanging weight at the butcher was 158 lbs. 50 lbs of cape/head, and im guessing 20 lbs of guts. So he probably went 230ish or so. I also did a half ass measure job of the skull. Looks like it will be around 19-20" This bear is gonna be a 3/4 mount. Cant wait. Welp, time for Fall bear now I guess!!
