My son drew a youth permit for Chiliwist unit. It shows two sets of dates. Do you get to hunt both time frames or do they choose dates for you? It's his first year hunting so I'm sure I will take him.

Its open like a general season and a late season kind of thing so you can hunt either season or both

12yr old son drew a youth antlerless and a  second deer tag.  Looks like 2 antlerless whitetails for his first deer.

This sucks!

I agree it sucks but what's the alternative? Let hundreds of deer starve to death because of over grazing available winter ground? Even with aggressive feeding it would be an ugly winter for the Methow herd IMO.

 What if we have a super mild winter? What if the deer cross the river to better forage? Seems irresponsible to condemn them through this hunt without even giving them a chance.

Be sure to shoot every coyote you see over any deer you may take. Coyotes will eat good this winter no matter how mild it is. They will be running deer all winter so let's do our part to help all all the critters this winter. The whitetail population will certainly rebound faster than the mule deer, if you are a hunter concerned about those kinds of things think twice or more before taking a mule deer  .

I need clarification. I received this very email.
I was not selected for the units specified but rather whidbey.
Does this mean i can have my general tag,my whidbey tag, and now buy this tag on top of those?

I am getting a very bad (worse) feeling about this.

Alot of folks agree that this sucks including myself,there are alot of other ideas,options,reasons,thaughts etc.ect on the other anterless methow thread in the deer hunting section.....this is a crying shame! Nothin wrong with taking out the white tails but were gonna need all the breeding stock mulie does we can muster comming out the back end of this winter.....

Speaking of that my son saw a coyote chasing 3 doe's last weekend in twisp. Could not get close enough to shoot. Good reason as any to pack a pistol i suppose

Two per person if they chose to buy second tag.

One tag, just called a second deer tag for specified doe.  You have to buy the extra tag for $43.ish. Therefore you can still fill your regular season buck tag. That's how I read it.

Called WDFW this AM, you can hunt with your general tag you buy to put in for permits for general deer season for buck or doe in drawn unit, or use this tag plus second deer tag to get two does in drawn unit during both hunt dates.

But keep in mind you have to login into the permit draw to see what area they drew you for the special permit for that you weren't draw for this spring the first time. So my daughter didn't get drawn this spring, so I logged back in last night after getting the email and she was selected for Pearrygin for this special hunt.
