This thread will be the central location for all things “Jesse” here at HuntWa. The thread will remain locked but Killbilly and I will update links to auctions, raffles and donation information. If possible, we are going to keep all auctions and raffles in the "Classified" section but you will be able to find links in this thread.

As some of you may know, a family friend was recently hit by a drunk driver and nearly killed. Because of this family’s situation we are actively pursuing donations to help in all aspects his recovery. As a result of the accident he has mounting medical bills, lots of therapy to come and will need a prosthetic leg capable of allowing him the freedom to continue enjoying the outdoors.

Some of his injuries include:
Internal Decapitation (definition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_decapitation)
Lower leg amputation.
Broken forearm.
Broken collarbone.
Broken femur (2 places).
Broken knee.
Broken pelvis.
Shattered spleen.
Lower extremity burns.

Jesse is 25 years old, has a passion for the outdoors and is an accomplished bow hunter and fisherman. Besides being a great outdoorsman, he is a great person. As a high school sophomore he was fast tracked to college and he made the “Dean’s Who’s Who” book. Jesse is the type of guy that every father would love to have for a son and every hunter would want for a partner.

I know that times are tough with the economy the way it is, but just think about how big things can be accomplished with little steps. If everyone would donate a little it will add up to a lot and it would really help out a fellow outdoorsman in a time of need.

Jesse has had a great recovery after losing his leg and real close to losing his life. It has been a long road since Nov 24th.

Jesse is now ready to be fitted for a Prosthesis (newleg) Nike has a new model out and he wants one badly. They are not sure if the insurance will pay for it. They are asking for help.

See the Caring Bridge Journal http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jessefoss

If any of you feel inclined to donate, you can contact me and I am in contact with his father all the time.

My phone is 360-451-7784

I talked to Clifford, Jesse's father a few minutes ago. They are at the hospital getting Jesse fitted for a neck brace. If you read the account, you know His head was disconnected from his spine, the only thing holding his head on his body was the skin and tissue around his neck and his actual spinal cord. The bone in his neck was totally shattered and gone. All of the doctors here at Harbor view told us people rarely survive from that injury. He may have to wear a brace for a long time. His sister asked about friends and family helping on the cost of the "Nike Leg" before they were even thinking about anyone else helping. I suggested they do a PayPal account. I will let you know how to get funds sent to them.

A PayPal account has been set up to accept donations towards getting a Nike Leg
The account is nikeleg@comcast.net  This account cannot be used as a payment method for any weapons Auctions. Donations involving weapons will be handled by direct deposit in US BanK to the account Clifford Jesse Foss or by check PM myself or BTKR for details

We already know that a plain plastic prosthesis is around $5000.00. Jesse is ready to hunt again and we want the best for him. He is a dyed in the wool Archery guy and has never harvested an animal with a firearm. Considering what is behind him and what lies ahead, I am definitely going to do all I can to help him. If you can't donate, at least keep the prayers flowing.

Thank You from myself and Jesse's family

Jesse is going to be the recipient of our Joshua Cup II 2009 Big Game Contest.  I will post a link to the contest as soon as it is posted.  Dedicated hunters from our Huntwa family coming to the aide of yet another family, and having a little fun while doing it.  It doesn't get any better than that.  See ya on the hill soon Jesse!

I have been trying for weeks to find a way to put into words how I feel about the members of this site and to express my thanks for all of the help and encouragement for Jesse and his family. The only thing that comes to mind is “Amazing”.

The HuntWa community helped raise nearly $3,500 to help Jesse and his family with bills related to his tragic accident. I know it has been hard for them to put it in words, but I know that they thank everyone of you as well.

I would like to thank everyone who donated items and to those people who purchased those items. Words simply won’t say enough but I do want to make a special mention of Chris Meyer/Titan Outdoors, Michelle Nelson Taxidermy, and Barnett Implement for the donations that brought in larger than expected donations.

Here are a few pics from when I took Jesse out on the lake a few weeks back.
