I posed the question.....
Quote
Anybody interested in trying to take the cup back from Bone.  Same rules as last year.  Currently there is no prize other than having the satisfaction of helping someone, and trying to kick my butt, but maybe a sponsor might kick in something.  Basically same as last year, $20 entry fee, all funds go to Jesse.  Look for details at the top of general to see who we could be helping.  BTKR or Killbilly could channel the funds if they are willing.   I know things are tight this year so this is just a feeler.  I'd love to keep this tradition alive if there was some interest.  Please let me know what your thoughts are.  No obligations at this point.  If there is an interest or you guys are supportive we will hammer out some logistics.  I might even see if Killbilly and BTKR are up to it.  If not I guess I can handle it again.  I don't know the fella, but then again I didn't know Josh.     If you are uncomfortable about your opinions on here, pm me them.
Thanks
Bone....

and I got an affirmative to go.

In honor of Joshua Holm, we are going to run our second annual Big game contest....this years recipient is
Jesse Fosse.  For details about him....http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,23148.0.html

Details of the contest:

Here's the contest......$20 to enter for ALL of your Non-resident/out of state hunts(one fee covers all hunts).  You can either paypal the money to an account set up for him at nikeleg@comcast.net  or mail me a check. Some funds will be lost to fees if paypal is used, not much but some. PM me with your interest and I will get that payment information/mailing address to you.  I will collect the funds and about once a week or so, I will send the money to Jesse's family or into that account provided.   Those that enter will be listed in this sticky thread .   Currently there is no prize for winning the contest, but we are working on something.  Right now its just to help someone, and some bragging rights.

-The contest will begin with the up and coming seasons 2009 license year.  The contest will end midnite Dec 31st.  Some seasons will not have run yet or may still be open, buthte contest is over at this time.
-Any animal recognized and measured by Pope and Young or Boone and Crocket will be eligible.
-The animals scores will be compared to the world record of each animal for each method of collection and for each category nontyp/typical etc.  The score will be turned into a ratio and the one closest to the New world record, or the one that beats the new world record by the largest score.  WINS
-Anyone that is hunting a Non-resident hunt is eligible.   That means if you are from Montana and hunting Idaho, you are eligible.  If you are from Texas and hunting Colorado, you are eligible.  If you are from Washington, the animal must be from out of state.   Washington state hunters that are interested in donating but are not going out of state can donate to a link that we will get posted on here shortly.
Entrys will be judged on the honor system by the Boone and Crockett club or Popes, scoring system.  These MUST be fairchase hunts as outlined by those scoring systems.
Similiar to the Washington contest, I would like a committee of judges to be formed.   These judges are eligible for the contest.   They reserve the right to reject a trophy if an issue arrives or have it measured by another party.  (Where's the lawyer, this is a pain to write)  If one of the committee members  trophies is in the top ten, then they will be replaced with another member to take their spot on the committee.    The overal top ten entries will need to be officially scored bya Boone or Pope measurer. This may be adjusted to top 5 if there are not that many contestants.  The officail score sheets will need to be posted prior to the first of March.
The committee reserves the right to adjust or add rules during the contest if needed.
I was going to put a deadline on when your funds needed to be in for the contest, but since this is an honor system, at this time I would like to keep the contest open for more applicants if possible as this is a fund raiser.  PLEASE have your funds in prior to hunting.  You must have your application in before harvesting in order tfor the animal to be eligible for entry into the contest.

Currently Killbilly, myself and BTKR will be committee members.   If Jesse becomes an instant Millionaire and is no longer in need of funds, then the committe will reserve the right to help out someone else in misfortune.

It would be cool if you do donate, to put a comment from yourself inicating who you are and that you are form this site, so that we might know where the generosity is coming from and we are sure to get your entry posted.

If you use the   NikeLeg@comcast.net  PayPal method, put "Joshua Cup" in the comments box please. It will help us track it.

THANK YOU ALL FOR PARICIPATING.

I'm in.  Added a few extra bucks to cover Paypal fees +.  The 2009 cup will be won by a rifle-killed mule deer from Wyoming.  Bone, no hurries delivering the trophy, you can drop it off on your way to the Methow to shed hunt next year.

Speaking of trophy......Compliments of our resident Master of making things, I understand Hunting Cowboy might be working on a travelling trophy for us all.  Though I expect nothing like the Hunt Wa trophies he created, it will be cool to have some sort of travelling trophy for the winner, especially as we'd like to make this a perpetual thing where we are helping out someone in need.  We'll keep you posted as this progresses. Thanks for your time and Skill Hunting Cowboy!

Everytime a Hunt-Wa Member refinances through Mortgage Hunter Financial Outfitters, we will donate $100 to the recipient of the 2009 Joshua Cup Contest.  In addition, I will make a one time donation equal to the amount by which your payments were reduced through refinancing.

For example....
You're currently paying $1,500.00 per month on a 6% mortgage.  After refinancing with Mortgage Hunter Financial Outfitters at 4.75% on 30yr Fixed (no buydown points), your new monthly payment is $1305.00.......SAVING YOU $195.00 per month.

In this case we would donate our standard $100 + a one time match of your monthly savings of $195 = $295 TOTAL DONATION!!!!
