Eberlestock Skycrane pack on sale right now ($200 off)
« on: July 11, 2009, 10:42:14 PM »
Not sure about this pack, looks kinda like the "just one" styles they have only less hunting targeted... still might fit the bill, and at almost half off.

Figured someone might like to know.

Looks like it to me...But I did not compare the specs of the two. Don't be afraid to get a non-camo hunting pack. If it fits, serves your purpose and is the right price I don't see why you wouldnt order one. Seems like a great deal.

I did get one, I like the non camo thing, more easily serves more than one purpose.

If you're interested in an Eberlestock pack, let me know, I can get you a deal on any pack they make.  Email me at lint5564@yahoo.com for more info...

The Skycrane is sweet, I'm trying to talk Glenn into making one in camo for hunting season, but I agree, the earth color works well too..

I'm sure it's a hell of a pack.  They make a great product and they are particularly well thought out. IMO they're 1 of the top 2 or 3 pack makers out there.

Showed up today (along with a 40lbs package of ammo from sportsmans guide that I ordered 4 days before this)... long story short they left it at my wife's ex-roommates coffee shop, that was weird (goin to the coffee shop to pick up my ammo). Either way, I ordered it an hour before I posted here and it's in my hands now.

two thing first glance.
If I can't fit it in/on this pack I shouldn't be carrying it on my back.
I've never had a backpack that I wished I had a manual for, until now...  there's a lot going on to figure out.

Also realized I'm an idiot (not the first time), the pack comes with their "spike camp" thing.... I ordered one, so now I have two (general rule, not always followed, if it's my screw up I live with it).

So if someone wants a spike camp duffle, got a new one for sale.

7+ miles, 2k+ feet in the first 5 miles... super out of shape me (about a mile an hour for the trip). 20 lbs more than I should've in the pack (stress test, and make sure the wife was warm, well fed, comfy, and not packing too much).

my feet, legs and lungs hurt.
my back is fine.
my arms got a little funky (extending too far too fast got the weird nerve pinch electrical feeling).

all in all best dang pack I've ever owned!

only complaint, rather than building upwards it builds out and you get that easily off balance feeling with a full load in the center removable pack, also tends to grab on trees beside you and make it difficult to get on when completely loaded up. I've had worse though, or rather I haven't had better, if it's more than a single night fishing trip I'll deal with the extra weight and take this.
