Here are some of my mountain goat photos and videos from my Glacier National Park trip last week.
As many of you know, I absolutely love mountain goats. I was really excited to go to Glacier National Park because the park is known for all its mountain goats. Unluckily, we did not get very many great picture opportunities at mountain goats. They were very spread out this time of year and we were only really able to get close to a nanny and her kid on the first day up at Logan Pass. We did see mountain goats every day, they just were never in good spots to stalk up on them and rarely in big herds. But, here are some of the good pictures that we did get.
We spotted this nanny and her kid from the Hidden Lake lookout trail from Logan Pass. Eventually they bedded down and we were able to get close to them...

Really close...

It was actually really fun to get so close to some mountain goats. We were able to watch them chew their cud. It was interesting to see how much quicker the kid chewed his cud than the nanny. The nanny also gave the kid a spot in the shade to bed therefore requiring that she bed in the sun. This was definitely causing her discomfort as she was panting and breathing very hard. Also, it was interesting to see how long it took for the nanny to lose her winter coat in a year when she gives birth. It's already mid-September and she is still sporting part of last years winter coat!
