I am looking into some of the options in these threads:

http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,35971.msg421329.html#msg421329

http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,62389.0.html

I know in the past I have printed off the Nat'l Geographic maps from the map stations in the store.  I think all of our local stores got rid of those map stations.  You could have the GMU overlaid if you wanted.  I like the idea, with it looks like some good reviews from some, of the Nat'l Geo software by state.

Hope this helps!

Deep

REI has a topo map making machine that you can have the GMU borders put on.  A little spendy but I love them.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

LC Sportmaps sells a decent map that would be worth checking out. You buy them by the  GMU you are looking for. The link below goes to the website then you can find all of the dealers that carry them or you can call and order them.

I loved the REI maps too...I went to REI in Tacoma last week to print up a new area for me and found out that they no longer have the map station.  You can buy the Nat. Geo. map software for about $50

Isn't there a "map station" like that at Wholesale Sports? I think I've seen it at the store in Lacey.

Arnold's in Vancouver just got new mudflow maps.picked one up then went up there today, map was very detailed.still a little snow up there but the unit looks great .spotted a few elk in the felt ,this hunt should be the best I've been on. Plan on holding out for something big even if I don't fill my tag.

Second Arnold's Map Service in downtown Vancouver, WA.  I also picked up two of the mudflow maps yesterday.  I have been using them since the 70's.

I stopped by the Wholesale Sports in Lacey today to check...no luck.  They don't have the "map station" anymore either.

FYI, I just bought the L C Sportsmans inc. GMU 224 Pearrygen, and GMU 218 Chewuch maps from Big J's in Orting yesterday.

A couple of things, first off there is a big sticker on the ziplock bag they come in and stamped on the map itself that says:

 "CAUTION: PROTECT FROM WEATHER"

No way is this paper going to hold up to repeated opening and refolding, let alone weather. The ink is very easy to smear. These are 7.5 minute maps, and the detail is horrible! You can't even make out roads, even if they were labeled, most are not. No elevations, or reliefs.  Yes they do show a distinct GMU outline, no way would I trust these for correct location identification.
I will be returning these, looking for something more detailed.

He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.

the lc sportsmans like alchase said are not very detailed with elevation and such but are really just to show boundries. On the back they show what usgs maps to get that type of info that would be inside the boundries
