Bowling for baby yotes
« on: July 04, 2011, 07:58:32 AM »
I was coming to work this morning and there were three little yotes in the road.   I think they owned it.  What would you do?  What do you think I did. :chuckle:

I can't imagine actually trying to run them over.  :puke: Maybe when I was a teenager, but not now.  I have to believe that you stopped and watched them get off the road.  Bear

Well the first thought was to stop and open fire. :chuckle:   but I refrained.  Mostly attributed to you guys and this site I think.   In the old days........

I let nature take its course and they moved.   I did wish I had my camera with me.   I'll admit I have run some of them down in the past though.  I had to resist.  Coyotes rate right up there gophers to me.  I'll no doubt be shooting them in the next week or so as they try to eat my chickens.  I can't remember if I post the pic of the one we had in our flower bed last weekend.

or eat pheasants, deer, elk, my chickens etc.  :chuckle:

I'm probably in a minority, but I shoot em when I can.  It does not have to be fur season.

I'll shoot coyotes anytime of year but I don't mess with the pups. Let them eat some mice and grow a little. Doesn't feel right trying to kill a little puppy.. How many guys are proud of killing coyote pups out there? This winter when theyre bigger is different. I'm talkin now when they're under 2 feet tall.

What would you do?
Were the yotes close enough together to get them all with one blast from a 12 ga?  I haven't had any luck using the truck for yotes.  I did find feathers all over my yard last night, so it might be time to thin the pack a bit...again.

I would have had a long thought for this one..... Just had to blast one that was sticking it's nose in my coupe.... It trotted within 5 feet past my 4 year old son as he's yelling for the neighbor dog to get out of the yard.... I look and kick at it.... It turns toward me while walking to me..... That's when I realized what is was and put one between her eyes at a yard..... I don't like yotes....

Yep, kicked th e pup out of the yard last week and figured It had been wathcing the chickens I had let out.  Sure enough, Lost one. Neighbor dogs know better.  I've got some training to do thats for sure.  Damn thing was small enough to get through my pig wire.

Back to the pups in the road....  I can't believe you didn't have your camera with you.
