  :IBCOOL:  Without giving away where you got him, was it anywhere near where I told you about?  Looks low there.  Great job getting it done and glad you had some success.  We had one in camp from opening morning, and chased a big one for a few days before he gave us the slip completely and time ran out.  I'll see if I can get the video uploaded and posted.  It was a monster!  :yike:

13 year old Tommy got his deer right at dusk mid week.  Shot with his Savage 243 at about 300 yards.  His biggest deer yet.  Way to go Tommy!

This is my son on the right, my cousin in the middle and my son's boss on the left.  My son shot his deer opening weekend and the other two bucks were shot on the same day, on Wednesday all on the east side in the Alta unit. I had my sights set on a buck about 200 yards bedded down, let him get the slip because I couldn't see all the points.  Still some time for me to stalk a blacktail.

My 2011 second day Whitetail in the north Okanogan's, filled my second deer tag later in the week. First buck in 32 years, guess that 30 years in the Navy got in the way a little, looking forward to many more enjoyable hunting trips in the future, starting with next weeks Elk Camp!!!

Those two younger kids shot some great deer. Great job guys and way to get out and hunt!!! Congrats to you both, that is awesome.

:) Ditto that!  Great job kids! And also to your awesome parents for being such good mentors.

Awesome bucks ya'll!!!  Totally enjoy seeing all the pictures and big smiles, especially the kids. The highcountry bucks ROCK!!!

My first buck...From the recently added Wild Sky Wilderness Area North of Index, WA with .243 Ruger on Monday the 24th. I can't believe it really happened, so I had to post it.  What an unbelievable experience.

That morning I hiked up the side of a steep Southeast facing timber slope about 800 feet.  Then sat for 4 hours off a trail I had scouted several times over the summer, fully embedded in the habitat. At 11:44am, this buck walks out into view, with head down heading towards the game trail and me at about 50 yards. He turned onto the trail and then came down presenting a nice quartering away shot between a couple of trees.  It was close range, 15 yards maybe. (after taking up archery, I finally learned how to be compulsive about de-scenting and washing my hunting clothes).  I don't buy the expensive spray stuff, I make it with 2 cups distilled water, 2 cups hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and add a little vanilla flavoring (2-3 capfuls) and spray everything I own or touch for hunting.  Eat pear slices while I wait.

Congrats on a great blacktail...
