Thanks all! It was really a great time... sorry I didn't get to meet any of you over in the vicinity this trip, though!

Here's hoping December will be more fruitful, but now I'm concentrating on filling my western muzzleloader elk tag as the season opens this following week!

Happy hunting, all!
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

Did you hear any howling other then the ones that responded to you?

Any other tracks then the ones you crossed? If it keeps snowing up here you might bring sonwshoe's next trip..

Sounds like you had fun.

No howling at all that I heard... the guys that I camped near said there was a few howling near their gravel pullout about 4 days before I arrived, and they cut tracks the day prior to my closest encounter.

If there was howling, it would have been VERY difficult to hear them; the wind was almost scary at times; two trees fell within 100 feet of me during that excursion.

I'll be back in December, showsnoes in hand. :)

It looks like I might go back for the last 3 days of the hunt and see what I can't rustle up... :) Thanks for the sighting board, mulehunter.. I might go back to the same spot or I may try some new territory. :)

I was actually just talking with another member about doing just this! He married a gal that's from McCall and her kin live in the woods and know where all the deer, elk, and WOLVES  are so might be trying to put something together

Good luck on your hunt. I can't wait until this fall when I get over that way with a wolf tag in hand.

I just bought a wolf tag and license for this year. I have already been out once. Saw alot of sign and talked to some camp that had one hanging. That was actually the second one they shot. The first one they shot a few days before I was up there. I can't wait till I can go again.
