I've read about wolves being present on the Olympic Peninsula back in the 1800's and possibly the early 1900's.
Wolves were historically present in the Olympic Peninsula. An interesting reference comes from Chris Morgenroth, an early ranger on the Peninsula. In his book, "Footprints in the Olympics: An Autobiography", he describes being treed by wolves, and creatively escaped the situation with well-thrown rocks.
